Sustainability

Sustainability has been a core part of BTT's strategy for many years. By intelligently combining inland waterway, rail and road transport, we help our customers reduce CO₂ emissions and optimize their logistics processes.

As one of the first logistics providers in the Netherlands, BTT transported large container volumes by inland waterway and later by rail between the seaports and the European hinterland. By shifting transport from road to water and rail, we have significantly reduced the number of trucks on the road, resulting in a substantial reduction in CO₂ emissions.

  • Deploying modern, fuel-efficient vehicles and terminal equipment
  • Continuously renewing our fleet with sustainable technologies
  • Training drivers, locomotive operators and terminal staff in fuel-efficient operations
  • Using data from our Control Tower to minimize empty kilometres
  • Investing in energy-efficient terminals, solar panels and charging infrastructure
